Linus Bill and Adrien Horni began working together just last year, for Horni’s irregularly published magazine, Turbo. As a result of their first effort, they were commissioned by the Swiss Advertising Commission to create a publication presenting the awardees of 2011. Limited to the palette of the original source material, the two employed strategies of collage and abstraction to create a varied, textured output.( Text by Swiss Institute NYC ). The Claire Vague show ran parallel to their show at the Swiss institute, where the artists adapt the imagery by expanding its scale and sourcing silkscreen and painting. On Broome street, an Xerox in its A4 size was exhibited. It was a pendant of one of the silkscreened ones that was shown at the Swiss Institute on Wooster Street.

Nick Waplington was working on a series of Icon paintings among others when we visited him at his Chinatown studio. 

This publication is an interpretation of Jean - Luc Godard's movie 'La Chinoise'.It is a collaboration with Atlas Studio. A 1st Edition of 150 booklets was printed at the Kulturbüro in Zürich on the Risograph. 25.-CHF

The first Claire Vague apartment Groupshow took place on the 17th of December 2011 in St.Gallen, Switzerland. It was snowing that day. My friend Victor was moving 17 steps down in his Bushwick apartment and I was moving 8 flights up at Lämmlisbrunnenstrasse 50. This dimensional leap inspired me for the title of the show. I asked friends from close and far to participate, showing work that dealt with proximity and distance, physical and mental. Before the apartment was used as a living environment, it became for one weekend a gathering space for friends and strangers to look at loose and tight connections made between pictures, objects and a video.

About the architect: Otto Glaus ( 1914 - 1996 ) is a Swiss architect born and raised in Heiden, Appenzell. He was a former employee of Le Corbusier and member of the CIAM. After graduating from ETH Zürich, he began his own practice in the 40ies. Among his works are apartment buildings such as this one at Lämmlisbrunnenstrasse 50( 1956 - 1959 ), officebuildings, churches and airports. He showed a distinct style with inner spacial tensions in his designs. His main material was concrete since it allowed him through its constructive characteristics the most freedom for composition of space.

'Spiegel der Erde' is a video meditation on the role satellite photography can play in furthering our understanding of the planet we inhabit. The video is comprised of extracts from an ongoing work, a series of lecture / performances that explore the relationship between the self and its various forms of representation. Aaron Scott is an artist and furniture designer who lives in Brooklyn. 

The visual artist Henrik Strömberg is based in Berlin. He says about his work: ' My work is photography based, but ultimately deals with the deconstruction and transformation of the photographic image, both in terms of surface and content - combining seemingly disparate images, adding pigment, paint and / or cutting out parts of the image I initiate a process in which the image is removed from its context, its referent and expected narrative; I further explored this through the arrangements and combination of works; with the intention to create ambiguous narrations, formations of details, or a kind of temporary entropy. The subjects of my imagery, depicting scenes, spaces, elements, figures, or abstract shapes are less significant than my wish to prompt a deeper sense of reflection, a grasp of the intangible, or a glimpse of the other.

Victor Esther G. is an artist from spain, living in New York. He says about his work: ' My work is an operative fantasy of the mind fed by a sight that sometimes comes through and is presented in a physical form. The conception may be part of a multi - stimulation of the conscience, sub - conscience. Any formal aspects or complements are the result of an imperfect materialization of a primary impulse of meaning.' 

Jiri Makovec is a photographer and a cameraman. Within his work, he explores various places he visits and revisits as part of an urban and rural experience.Moments of mistery unveil in the most ordinary surroundings and are captured as a series of fantastic encounters and events. Within his photography, people and places he meets are often transformed into characters and places of fiction, provoking the wrong impression that the images might be set - up.  

Jiajia Zhang's work includes photography, sculptures, drawings, notes and room installations which depart from observations of daily life, the city and its residue. Color schemes, textures and shapes in photographs and objects form loose connections without building a closed narrative.Found ephemeral phenomena are presented next to constructed realities.As much as walking, looking, making associations and taking notes are important for her experience of the world and become sources for the work,she is taking into consideration that viewers themselves move within and without.
